Quarter Rican: A Hip Hop Musical
What exactly is a “Quarter Rican”? It’s a term for someone who is one-quarter Puerto Rican. But what does that fraction mean when it comes to identity, family, and culture?
Quarter Rican, a hip-hop musical, explores those questions through the story of a thirty-something father navigating his own insecurities while figuring out how to raise a child connected to their Latinx heritage.
Enter MC Plátano, his larger-than-life alter ego, who brings humor, music, and hip-hop into the mix while challenging him to think about parenthood, identity, gentrification, and what we pass on to the next generation.
Blending comedy, music, and plenty of introspection, Quarter Rican features a dozen original songs that move from sharp, sarcastic humor to soulful reflection.
Funny, personal, and thought-provoking, Quarter Rican asks a question many of us can relate to: How do we make sure the next generation knows where they come from?
Developed through Pregones Theater’s Step-Up Artist Residency and premiered at Mile Square Theatre.
Strong language.

Leave a Message After...THE BEEP
The call drops — but the voices don't stop talking.
A live theater experience as hilarious as it is heartfelt — songs, stories, and poems about being at home, wherever home is.
Leave a Message After…THE BEEP is Pregones/PRTT's original musical theater love letter to Puerto Rican voice, in all its verve: the Nuyorican fire of Jesús Papoleto Meléndez, Magdalena Gómez, and Mariposa Fernández — poets who turned block-party Spanglish and barrio blues into literature — meets the voices of island poets Francisco Félix Canales, Rubén Ramos Colón, and Amarilis Tavárez Vales, brought into the fold through collaboration with the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC). Diaspora and homeland, call and response, on the same stage. Four foundational and beloved voices round out the collection: Jesús Colón, Manuel Méndez Ballester, Julia de Burgos, Judith Ortiz Cofer.
THE BEEP is performed in English and Spanish with supertitles and appropriate for ages 12 and up.
Adapted and directed by Rosalba Rolón, with compositions and musical direction by Desmar Guevara.

The Rise of Dominican American Political Power in the United States
In Politics in Our Veins, Yalidy Matos, Domingo Morel, and Michelle Bueno Vásquez chart the rise of Dominican American political power across the United States, exploring the myriad factors that have contributed to their political success as thoughtful citizens, activists, and elected officials. On October 21, join us for a panel conversation marking the publication of the new book with the authors alongside Ramona Hernandez, Raquel Batista, and Cristina Beltrán. This event takes place at NYU Wagner (105 East 17th Street). Doors will open at 5pm, and the event begins at 5:30pm.
This event is organized by the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and co-sponsored by The Latinx Project.
About the Book:
Dominican Americans are one of the largest and fastest-growing Latinx groups in the United States, with a population that has quadrupled from 517,000 to a little over 2.3 million as of 2023. While New York City is home to the largest Dominican community in the country—and is where most Dominican American elected officials (DEOs) are from—Dominican Americans continue to increase their representation nationwide.

Viva Pinocho: A Mexican Pinocchio
On Saturdays at 3:00 PM!
What happens when the world's most mischievous puppet is born in Mexico, dreams of crossing to "The Other Side," and carries with him the blessing of the Virgin of Guadalupe?
After its successful debut at the 4th International Puppet Fringe Festival NYC, Teatro SEA presents Viva Pinocho: A Mexican Pinocchio, a bilingual production in Spanish and English that reimagines the Pinocchio classic through the heart of the Latino experience. Written by Manuel Antonio Morán, this is far more than the story of a puppet who can't stop lying — it's the portrait of a family searching for each other, a community fighting to be seen, and a little boy — made of wood, yes — who discovers that the greatest act of courage is never forgetting who you are.
Recommended for ages 7 and up.

Esta Isla Screening
As part of the BoriCorridor Screening Tour, Ágora Cultural Architects presents a special screening of Esta Isla, an intimate, thought-provoking film developed in Puerto Rico by a new generation of internationally recognized filmmakers.
A deeply personal and poignant portrait of the Puerto Rican experience that dives into the complexities of identity, resilience, and colonial legacy, the film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it was honored with Best Cinematography, Best New Director, and the Jury Award. In 2026 it was nominated for the prestigious Spirit Awards, where it won the John Cassavetes Award, solidifying its place as one of the most celebrated Puerto Rican films.
Bebo, a teenager from a coastal Puerto Rican town, lives with his brother in a public housing complex. They fish for a living, but growing desperation drives them to illegal dealings that promise easy money. When a job goes wrong and blood is spilled, Bebo flees with Lola, a wealthy girl seeking to escape her troubled reality. As they navigate the labyrinthine mountains, they encounter remnants of a fading way of life, contrasting with the violence that follows them. As hitmen close in, Bebo must confront his choices and decide if redemption is possible, or if the sea will be their final escape.
VISIONES - for our collective future
“Visiones” - For our collective future, from la diáspora to Borikén.
Our paths were paved by the steps our ancestors took. We are the fruit that bloomed from the love cultivated by our land, the celestial beings above, and the ones that came before.
Every day we live out the visions of what the brave ones who revolted, dreamed of.
“Visiones” is a kaleidoscope of the collective past, present, and future we are creating.
These works are portals that offer an intimate look into the current reality of our community.
The colonial violence inflicted on our divine motherland and our people has forever changed the course of history. Our people stripped of the infrastructure to meet their basic needs, our natural resources exploited, and the displaced robbed of a life that could have been lived in our sacred archipelago.
“Visiones” offers a multifaceted perspective on how we continue to fight for our sovereignty as a people.
Referencing historical moments within the artwork, and incorporating our modern revolution, “Visiones” is a conversation about how we imagine our communal future.
Our spirits, through art, joy, and perreo manifest the fire of el sol Taíno, and the land that screams for its children to defend her. From Borikén to La Diáspora, we will continue to build on las visiones that our ancestors laid out for our path to liberation.

Tertúlia Em Cena - Voice & Movement Laboratory
Presented by Group Dot BR - NY’s only Brazilian Theatre Company
Tertúlia In Cena: Dialogue in Motion is a hybrid theatre and voice on-going laboratory that reimagines life as a space for embodied dialogue and creative inquiry. Rooted in the Latin American and Iberian tradition of the tertúlia—intimate gatherings for exchange and reflection—it invites participants to explore the whole body and its presence as a channel for transformation, both individual and collective.
In an era marked by disconnection and performance-driven expression, this lab cultivates deep attention, relational awareness, and meaningful expression through movement, vocal exploration, and physical presence. The approach draws from my experience as a theatre artist, a Choreographic Theatre and Roy Hart-inspired voice teacher, as well as an integrative therapist.
Tertúlia In Cena welcomes both emerging and established artists and the general public to engage in non-hierarchical, process-centered exploration, opening pathways for future artistic collaborations, shared inquiry, and embodied presence in contemporary performance.
Note: Please wear comfortable clothes, bring your water, and an open mind!
